Democracy in CA - the weed vote

FACT: There are 38 million people in California.

FACT: Approximately 26 million are of voting age.

FACT: Approximately 8 million of those regularly or occasionally smoke weed.

FACT: Therefore, approximately 31% of voters regularly or occasionally smoke weed.

FACT: The CA Department of Health Services (DHS) has issued a mere 60,000 Medical Marijuana ID cards.

FACT: If even ONE HALF of the people who smoke weed were registered with the Department of Health Services, they would constitute a top 5 voting block in the entire state. As a result, every politician from either side of the aisle would be TRIPPING ALL OVER THEMSELVES FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUCK YOUR COCKS.

FACT: I personally know 150 to 200 people with DHS cards. None has ever been contacted by law enforcement. None. Ever. Do not buy into the paranoid stoner myth that LE is farming the DHS records for evil weed tokers and fanning out across the land to sweep them up and throw them in cages.

FACT: The path to complete legalization of marijuana is within your grasp and the system, the State of CA, is holding out the key just waiting for you to grab it.

FACT: DHS cards are easily available to any CA citizen 18 years or older with a pulse. Doctor approvals from fully licensed and legitimate doctors are available, usually on a walk-in basis, to anyone with around $100 who meets the above criteria. Those approvals can then be taken to your local county Health Department, and for an additional fee of $150 or so they will verify your Doctor Approval with a phone call and then instruct the CA DHS to issue you a MM ID card.

FACT: The CA Attorney General issued Medical Marijuana Guidelines for CA State Law Enforcement Agencies in August of ’08. Those guidelines require all LE to be much more lenient with DHS card holders then they are with non-card holders, i.e., doc approval only holders. FACT: It is in your INDIVIDUAL and COLLECTIVE benefit to be a CA DHS registered Medical Marijuana ID Card holder. That is UNLESS you are either PARANOID or making money exploiting the current status quo.

FACT: Many thousands of FORTUNES depend on maintaining the current status quo. Anyone who currently grows to sell, sells, dispensaries, middlemen, lawyers, doctors, equipment suppliers, etc., etc., etc., we ALL owe our fortunes to MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO. We all know very well that complete legalization would immediately cause supply to skyrocket and prices to plummet from the sky like a falling Volcano Vaporizer.

FACT: Even though the path to complete legalization of marijuana is so clearly defined, people will continue to find a thousand ways to fuck it up, thus ensuring a secure and prosperous future for those in the business. And IT IS a business. Don’t delude yourselves.
